Bio

My whole life I have been encouraged to be creative. Being homeschooled by my mother at a young age formed the structure of my imaginative mind. I enjoyed multiple mediums of art; drawing books, clay kits, various painting activities, sculpture pieces, and knitting/sewing crafts.

When I  was enrolled in a private middle school in Arizona and my teachers were more about inspiration than structure in my art classes, giving me a vast range of project ideas that were never shot down. My 8th grade drawing projects from a public school I attended in New Jersey won several ribbons, I still never felt “artsy”, to me art was already a part of my life and I knew I enjoyed it.

In high school I took photography for four years and fell in love. My teacher and I even started a more advanced, digital photography class for those students more interested in the field.

During my time at Northern Arizona University I was signed up for several random pre-requisite classes that I had no interest in. My sophomore year I decided to go to Coconino Community College to save money. I had no idea what I wanted to study, and in my first semester at CCC I took a ceramics class. My teacher saw my dedication and enjoyment and requested I take Ceramics II. She also pushed me towards painting and drawing. A year later I immediately changed my major to visual arts.

I had no idea until I reached college, how much art has shaped my life. Up until my freshmen year at NAU, when I did not have it in my life at all, I was missing something major, critical, life changing, and inspirational. I believe everyone has the potential to be an artist, as long as you love what you do and people appreciate it.
